CareNet & Care Archive

The CareNet’s main function is matching people’s care requests with others’ care offers, in other words, it is an application where you can ask for help and help others too.  During the registration, we will ask you questions that help us create your a profile that will then match your care-giving abilities and needs to other carists and carist organisations, thus you becoming a CareKnot on the CareNet.
The Care Archive celebrates all the care acts that have been fulfilled. This is where the caring acts from the CareNet are stored and you can access it to gain inspiration if they are heated by the will of act but don’t know how.

"Universal care means that care – in all its various manifestations – is our priority not only in the domestic sphere but in all spheres: from our kinship groups and communities to our states and planet. Prioritising and working towards a sense of universal care – and making this common sense – is necessary for the cultivation of a caring politics, fulfilling lives, and a sustainable world. Achieving this vision of universal care is of course as challenging as it is pressing. It will involve avowing our mutual interdependencies and embracing the ubiquitous ambivalences at the heart of care and caregiving. It will mean ensuring that care is distributed in an egalitarian way – neither assumed to be unproductive and primarily women’s work by nature, nor, when paid, carried out mostly by women who are poor, immigrant, or of colour. The goal is to ensure that the whole of society shares care’s multiple joys and burdens."

-The Care Manifesto (2020)

Individual Membership

With each care need that is fulfilled, you can earn a digital token. These care tokens allow you to quantify your caring actions and place you on a token colour belt that provides an indication of your status as a Carist.

As you continue to fulfil care needs, the colour belt changes and can eventually be translated into benefits to use back into the community through things such as discounted grocery shopping at Carist markets, or at Carist courses that help you expand your skill set.

This not only creates a stronger community that nurtures its members and supports its businesses, but also creates an ecosystem that recognises care as a valuable asset to our wellbeing and ability to practise a caring life.
